What is Fractional Plasma Treatment?
Fractional plasma is a skin rejuvenation procedure that can reduce the appearance of everything from fine lines and pore size to stretch marks and acne scars. Old-school resurfacing treatments used ablative lasers or deep peels to create injuries to the skin, triggering the skin's natural healing response and, subsequently, collagen production. But these treatments often proved to be too deep and destructive. Next came fractional laser skin resurfacing. This technology uses laser beams that split into thousands of microscopic zones, treating a much smaller area than before to minimize downtime while still maximizing efficacy. And now fractional plasma is the latest resurfacing treatment. This cutting-edge technology has only recently entered the market. It features the precise targeting of fractional lasers but instead uses excited gas to create plasma energy. This innovative device features metal-pinned tips that charge to a specific radio frequency voltage. When the device moves closer to the skin's surface, it reacts to the air's atmospheric pressure, creating plasma-like energy. That means you can expect better results and even less recovery time.
Benefits of Fractional Plasma Treatment
Fractional plasma treatments offer a long list of benefits. They include:
Relatively quick treatment times - as short as 30 minutes. Times vary, depending on the number of treated areas. To achieve the best results, you'll need a minimum of three sessions. Typically, up to 50% less downtime than laser treatments. You may experience mild to moderate amounts of redness for up to 48 hours, but this won't disrupt your daily life. Advantages for every part of the body. The device can be used anywhere, including the face, neck, abdomen, inner thighs, arms, hands, over the knee area. Energy levels can be increased or decreased, and different tips can be fitted to target hard-to-reach areas.
Why You Should Get a Fractional Plasma Treatment?
Fractional plasma is an effective rejuvenating beauty procedure with minimum down time and excellent skin renewal stimulation and tightening effect. For even more powerful results, try alter Fractional Plasma and Radio Frequency or Pefectio Plus Microneedling (RFMN). These treatments synergistically perform controlled injuries for a collagen-boosting, lifting effect. By alternating the two treatments or using each in different areas, you can begin working toward your best skin

How does Plasma Pen work?
Plasma pen ionises gases from the air to create a small and very precise arc of plasma energy. This plasma arc is used to create a series of tiny dots on the skin that trigger an immediate tightening, lifting and contouring reaction, which renews skin whilst the surrounding skin remains unaffected.IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
Plasma is a non-invasive procedure with minimal level of pain. It is virtually painless, as the treated area is numbed before the treatment. After the treatment the treated area is red (7–14 days) and some patients may experience some swelling, which may last up to 3–4 days. At the site of each spot a small crust will form. They should not be touched and you should wait for 5-10 days for them to fall off naturally. During the procedure the clients may feel some discomfort, not actual pain, depending on the treated area of the face/body.IS PLASMA TREATMENT SAFE?
The treatment is very safe, as it is a non-surgical procedure. It has a negligible amount of possible side effects and serious complications alike. The procedure is based on the natural stimulation of skin regeneration, so the excesses which may be seen in the world of traditional surgery are not possible. The Plasma treatment takes a very short time, with stress on the aftercare, as, in case the client neglects the instructions for aftercare, the treated area may suffer from: inflammation, hyper-pigmentation, scarring …PRE & POST TREATMENT
Do not wax, pluck, use depilatory creams or undertake electrolysis for 2 weeks prior to treatment, and in between treatments
Do not use prescription strength exfoliant creams (discuss with your therapist) for 2 weeks prior to treatment
Do not shave for up to 1 weeks prior to first treatment. Please shave the night before all subsequent treatments
Avoid tanning, including self-tanning lotions, tanning bed/booths or sun exposure, for 4 weeks prior to and in between treatments. A sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater should be used on any area of sun-exposed skin, which you plan to treat
Skin Types 3 and above may need to commence melanin inhibitors 2-4 weeks prior
Post treatment
Until redness has completely resolved, avoid all the following:
Applying cosmetics or alcohol based products on treated areas
Swimming, especially in pools with chemical/chlorine
Hot tubs and jacuzzis
Activities that cause excessive perspiration
Avoid sun exposure to treated areas
Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs as this will cause unwanted side effects
Apply a sunscreen with SPF 30+ daily to sun exposed skin, AND REAPPLY AS DIRECTED BY PRODUCT INSTRUCTIONS
Increased photosensitivity to UV can occur when taking certain medications. During your treatment programme, if you have commenced or changed dosage with the following medications, you must advise your clinician:
- Antibiotics
- Antihistamines
- Antidepressants
- Herbal preparations – St Johns wort, Gingko Biloba, citrus oils, Herbal HRT therapies
Taking these medications does not exclude you from plasma treatments; however, extra precautions are applicable in these cases.
In addition to the above instructions, further individualised recommendations may apply such as:
FIBROBLAST POST TREATMENT
Application of Stratamed or an ice pack/cool compress every hour for 5 to 10 minutes may be soothing to the skin. Continue until symptoms subside
Only apply Stratamed on the treatment area for the first 24 hours
Avoid getting the area wet for 24 hour and do not apply any cosmetic or cosmeceutical products to the area
Avoid sun exposure to treated areas. Apply a sun block with SPF 30 or greater daily to sun-exposed treated areas between treatments and for 4-6 weeks after last treatment
Recommended to use SPF daily, once the scabs have formed
Bathe or shower as usual. Treated areas may be temperature sensitive. Avoid use of strongly scented lotions or soaps, prescription strength exfoliant creams, loofah sponges, and aggressive scrubbing to treated areas during healing phase
Allow any blistered or open areas to heal spontaneously. If healing is delayed, a thin coating of antibiotic ointment may be advised. Do not pick at these areas. Picking may result in infection or scarring. Allow any crusting to heal spontaneously, crusting will resolve in 3 to 14 days. Application of antibiotic ointment is not recommended for crusting
Best results are obtained on clients who have follow up treatment 3-6 months after their initial treatment. Your clinician will advise you when you should schedule your next appointment. It is important to adhere to this regime
ARE THERE ANY POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE PLASMA TREATMENT?
The Plasma treatment is an exceptionally safe procedure with virtually no side effects or they occur very rarely. Possible side effects are inflammation, scarring or minor change in skin pigmentation, which is very rare. It is highly important for each client to follow the instructions for aftercare closely. Crusts which occur after the treatment are part of the treatment and will fall off after 5-10 days. Minor swelling after treating the area around the eyes is normal and will disappear after 3–5 days, depending on the client’s sensitivity.
MAY I USE MAKEUP AFTER THE PLASMA TREATMENT?
Do not use makeup after the treatment, as it generally is not sterile. First 5–7 days after the treatment or until the crusts fall off, When the crusts fall off, you may apply some makeup if necessary,
ARE THE RESULTS VISIBLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TREATMENT?
The results are visible immediately after the treatment, but we have to inform the client that the maximum results will be visible after 3–4 weeks when the skin enters the third phase of the healing – collagen and connective tissue growth. So, results are visible immediately, but the end results follow after 3–4 weeks after the treatment.
How long the effect of the treatment will last?
The treatment should last long term although it is hard to predicted exactly. Ageing is dynamic process and there are many factors affecting patients individually. Lifestyle, diet and genetics just to mention few. As of today, permanent results are not possible, after Fibroblast procedure or traditional surgery your skin will be a subject to ageing. Your skin will continue to relax (loosen) again. In some rare situationsageing may be accelerated and effectiveness of Fibroblast would be shortened. Purebeau technician will discuss those conditions, so patients have better understanding of what to expect.

FIBROBLAST PLASMA AFTERCARE
The Fibroblast Plasma Pen treatment will produce side-effects after the procedure. This is common and normal. Side effects expected is redness, swelling, and slight pain, this generally subsides after a day or two.
Eye Treatment Area
Day of treatment: Some swelling. Feels hot like a sunburn. This feeling can last for up to 3 hours+
Day 1 (Next day post-treatment): Lots of swelling (the most swelling), especially in the morning.
Day 2: Swelling.
Day 3: Itchy sensation and tightness. Swelling decreases. Dots dry and may start to fall off.
Swelling
You will notice most of the swelling on the first morning after treatment, particularly around the eyes. Swelling usually lasts two to three days. To minimise swelling do the following:
Follow Lymphatic Drainage Protocols.
Sleep elevated the first night. Use as many pillows as you can tolerate
Heat/Sunburn/Stinging
Feeling hot like a sunburn stinging sensation is normal immediately after the treatment and for the rest of that night.
Itchiness
You will start to feel itchy from the 3rd day. Do not pick at the dots. The itchiness sensation means that the dots are starting to heal and are getting ready to dry and fall off.
Dry skin
Your skin may feel dry, peel or flake. You may notice a “sandpaper” texture a few days after treatment. This is the treated tissue working its way out of your body as new fresh skin is regenerated.
Redness
Most redness resolves during the first week after treatment, but a rosy “glow” can remain for several weeks. After the carbon crusts (dots) have fallen off, 5 to 7 days after the treatment, that’s when you can apply your normal coverage of makeup.
Bronzing, Crusting and Small Dark Dots
The Fibroblast Plasma Pen treatment causes destruction to microscopic cylinders of skin which then exfoliates during the healing process. The treatment can make the skin look bronzed, or small areas appear crusted (do not try to scratch them off). Scratching off any carbon deposits (dots) may result in infection, scarring and hypo-pigmentation of the skin that may not be able to be reversed. Please refrain from scratching any areas that are healing.
Raw Skin
If you develop areas of raw skin post treatment, keep them moist with the provided ointment and our Fibroblast Aftercare. You do not need to apply band-aids, but keep the areas moist and do not pick at them. They will heal very rapidly on their own and without problems.
Weeping
Initially, after treatment and for a day or so afterward, there may be occasional weeping (yellow pus). This is simply plasma and is a natural healing response. This simply flakes off after a few days but in some cases can take over 1 week.
How to Care for Your Skin After Treatment
For 1 week After Treatment
Wash the area gently with warm water, carefully pat dry. Apply a small pea size of Aftercare cream 2 x per day
No Makeup
No Swimming
Do not use Anti Ageing Creams (Retinols, Tretonin, Retin A)
No Sauna
For 2 weeks After Treatment
Moisturise the area 2 x per day, using products that are hydrating and repairing eg La Roche Porsay Cicaplast Baume. Ingredients such at Hyaluronic Acid and Centella help heal the skin as well as hydrating it.
Do not use AHA’s Glycolics or Retinols
Do not use Exfoliating Products
At all time during the course of Treatment (1 week on)
Sun exposure should be avoided, if not, wear 50+ Sunscreen
Moisturise the area 2 x per day, using products that are hydrating and repairing eg La Roche Porsay Cicaplast Baume. Ingredients such at Hyaluronic Acid help heal the skin as well as hydrating it. You want to ensure that the skin is prevented from drying out and peeling.
No Sun beds or Sun baking
Skin Care Products
All of your skin care products should be non-irritating and non-clogging for the first week or so after the treatment. For best results, we advise to use products that contain healing and hydrating ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid and Centella.
Sunscreen
You should first apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside, and again, immediately before. After that, reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours. If direct sun exposure is necessary, wear a hat and clothing that covers the treated area. Use this regimen during the healing period and always.
Moisturiser
Remember that peeling and/or flaking is normal during the healing process. Therefore, the product should be non-irritating and non-clogging, or else you could develop breakouts. During the healing period your normal moisturiser may be too occlusive, so please consider using our aftercare products. Reapply whenever your skin feels dry.
Scrubs, Toners, Glycolic Acid, and Retin A
Your skin will be sensitive for the first week or so after treatment, so do not use products that will cause irritation during this time. Do not use abrasive scrubs, toners, or products that contain glycolyic acids or Retin A. Read the product labels.
Resume your normal skin care regimen when your skin has fully healed.
Cosmetic Treatments
Do not do any cosmetic treatments on the treated area of the following until the skin is healed at 6 weeks.
Skin Needling
Hair Removal laser
Carbon Peel laser
PRP
Botox/Fillers
BB Glow
Active Peels (AHA, Enzyme, etc)
